Yesterday, while my husband was at Noosa having a weekend away with his friends, I made chutney, something I have always wanted to make. It was fun. Thankfully my kids helped me with some of the preparation.
Miles chopped tomatos…

My stove top is old and only one gas burner works, which usually isn’t a problem. Making four giant saucepans of chutney, I did wish I could simmer it faster.
I bought all the fresh vegetables at the Rocklea Market at 6am on Saturday morning. The fruit seller told me these were the best tomatoes he’s had in years. I said, too bad they’re going into a chutney!
Confession: I did run out of ginger halfway through so some pots of chutney will not be as gingery as others!
